If you’ve landed here you are likely looking for feedback on a screenplay or pilot you’ve written . Or maybe you’re a producer or director and you’ve got a piece of material or series you are interested in developing. Either way I’m here to help you develop your project.
As a script consultant and story editor with experience working in all aspects of film and television, from development to distribution, and having read well over 2000 screenplays, my script analysis will ensure your script is entertaining, solidly structured and ultimately marketable.
My feedback, in the form of one-on-one discussions, is designed to give you specific information about what works and what could use strengthening. I offer solutions and give suggestions so that you realize your vision and tell your story your way. I also give you tools you can use not just for your current draft but for every script you write, direct or produce.
Each project has its own unique needs and quite often the process evolves as we work together. I’m open and flexible to this and once we begin working together I am committed to helping deliver the best script possible.
For each script I work on, I draw on my experience reading screenplays, developing material and working in film and television production and distribution. I look at six main areas: character, relationships, dialogue, structure, story execution & marketability. I always start with character and make sure the protagonist has an emotionally satisfying arc and full transformation. I look for a unifying theme, a clear, unique hook and a solid structure that escalates with tension and urgency. I find ways to bring out the writer’s voice and style so that the script feels like an original story with a distinct voice.
When we decide to work together you are not alone in the process. I work with you every step of the way even after you’ve received your notes or we’ve had our phone consultation. All services include unlimited e-mail access for one month following receipt of the notes or completion of our phone conference.
Every project is unique and I am committed to finding a way for us to work together that fits your budget, timing, experience and goals. Below are some of the ways we can work together but before we begin let’s set up a time to discuss your project and plan how best to proceed. Contact me at [email protected] to set up a time to talk.
Feature Script Read
Script analysis followed by one 2 hour phone / Zoom or Skype feedback session to discuss the material in detail.
This is a great way to get detailed and specific feedback with the immediacy of a one-on-one conversation. The first time I meet with a writer on a new project the first session is 2.5-3 hours. Can include co-writer, director and producer(s) if they are attached.
Feature Script Revision Plan Review
Review of a revision plan, revised beat sheet or treatment followed by a 2 hour phone / Zoom or Skype feedback session to discuss in detail.
Once we’ve had our first session it can be very helpful to summarize the changes in a revision plan and get a second set of eyes on the plan before proceeding to the next draft.
Pilot Scripts
Review of your pilot script and/or series materials followed by a 2 hour phone / Zoom or Skype feedback session to discuss the series in detail. Particular attention is given to characters, world and season arcs as well as what is being set up in the first episode so that the pilot adequately conveys the series to come.

Short Film Scripts
Analysis of your short film screenplay (up to 55 pages) which we discuss in detail in a 2-3 hour phone / Zoom or Skype feedback session.
Outline/Synopsis/Treatment Read
Analysis of your outline, synopsis or treatment, which we discuss in detail in a 2 hour phone / Zoom or Skype conference.
Story Meeting
Are you in the early stages of your project? Perhaps you have a logline or are wondering what project you should work on next. We can meet to break the story, find the general structure of the piece, explore the main character and arc together, discuss the strengths / weaknesses of the potential scripts you’re considering developing, talk about process and/or strategies for moving forward.
Session length varies depending on the needs of the project.
Sticky Notes
Specific notes directly on your script and a 30 minute feedback phone / Zoom or Skype call to discuss. Looking for micro feedback on character, structure and dialogue in line edit form? This is the way to go. (Script needs to be submitted in Final Draft or a PDF.)
Packages
Sometimes it’s better to plan ahead and come up with a package that includes several drafts.
Perhaps you’re at the initial stages of writing your script and want input on the outline and the first few drafts. Or maybe you’ve written the first draft and want feedback to help you take it to a solid second draft. Perhaps you’d like deadlines to work to and find accountability and check-ins helpful. A package rate that fits your specific needs can be arranged that gives you a combination of virtual story meetings and/or written notes as well as unlimited e-mail access through several drafts.
